NAMI Walks

In Maryland… hundreds of us walked, ran, and raised lots of money for Mental Illness at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor on May 21.

… For those of us from NAMI Anne Arundel County, it was kind of a reunion as alumni and current class members of the Family2Family Education  (F2F) course came out to show support.  It was a picture perfect day!  There were lots of laughter and smiles as we cheered each other for being able to educate others about Mental Illness by raising funds that would increase awareness and services for those with mental health issues.

“We did good…” as they say in the old neighborhood.  In fact, the Fall, Winter, and Spring class members of Family2Family in Anne Arundel Co. raised a recordbreaking amount of $9,790.  And according to the president of  NAMI AA Co, the initial Baltimore Walk report shows that  Anne Arundel County has raised $14,743.49.   That means the affiliate’s 55% share is $8,108.92… double the amount of the last two years.

A special thanks to the top F2F fund raiser in Anne Arundel County – Liz Montaner who, alone, got her friends, family, and business associates to cough up $4435.00.  Wow!!!  She and her family came out, in many ways, looking good for a very worthy cause.  Way to go Montaner’s.

Half of the 31 F2F Anne Arundel Co. walkers  were caught by the camera before taking off around the Inner Harbor.

… And others stopped long enough from blowing their own horn about  NAMI MD’s success walk,  to bring each other up-to-date on family happenings.

Some proudly showed off the t-shirts they had made…

Customers at Jeanette’s beauty salon contributed more than $800 over the weeks leading up to the walk.

While some NAMI AA Co. members greeted each other….

NAMI MD Walk Chair Karin Kramer congratulated Liz Montaner on her fundraising efforts for the F2F Anne Arundel team.
